During a stable visit for out of competition testing at Mr L S Faber’s training property at Ashburton, RIU staff identified and took control of a syringe which by its label contained a banned substance.

As a result, horses at the stable have been tested and along with the syringe, test samples have been sent to the Racing Laboratory for testing.

The RIU sought a ruling from the Judicial Control Authority (JCA) as required under the Rules of Racing to scratch the horses trained by Mr Faber that were entered for Riccarton on Saturday 21 September and at South Canterbury on Monday 23 September.

The horses are Hand of Faith and Force Majeure at Riccarton and Hand of God and Gem Lover at South Canterbury.

The JCA approved the application and the horses have been scratched.

Inquiries are continuing.

All inquiries to Mike Godber , General Manager, 0274744381.
