Adjourned Hearing from Taranaki Trotting Club 17 April 2011, Race 10:
A hearing into a breach of Rule 869(4) (6)(b) and (6)(c) alleging that horseman J Abernethy improved TOO THE TOP to a three wide position forcing CEE UIN L A (R Jenkins) to race wider on the track with approximately 1200m to run was re-opened. The charge was admitted and the JCA imposed a fine of $200.
    
RACE 1 - NEWSTALK ZB MOBILE TROT
The favourite TUINFRO (D Burrows) led, when entering the straight trotted roughly and then galloped losing its chance.  Trainer D Burrows was warned to improve TUINFRO's racing manners.  Minor infringement notices were issued and $100 fines were imposed on Trainers D Burrows and G Neill, for presenting respectively TUINFRO (six minutes) and LADY HAMLOCH (seven minutes) late on to the track.

RACE 2 - BALANCE FERTILISER MOBILE TROT
The favourite BON TON CHERIE (P Ferguson) led early, settled in the trail 400m after the start, brushed a couple of pylons on the home bend before utilizing the passing lane in the run home and ran on and finished second.

RACE 3 - W ABRAHAMS LTD FUNERAL DIRECTORS MOBILE
NORVIC AWAY (P Young) hung inwards racing towards the first bend when in the trail, striking two pylons.  The favourite SNAP WILSON (P Ferguson) was caught three wide for the first 400m, reached one out without a trail, and then received cover in the one-one position with 1100m to run.  SNAP WILSON improved three wide in an attempt to challenge for the lead inside the last 550m and ran on fairly to finish 5th.  Horseman P Ferguson and Trainer M O'Brien advised they were disappointed with its run.

RACE 4 - FIBER FRESH MOBILE PACE
The favourite LYNESS (Z Butcher) settled one out and three back and failed to run on finishing in 5th placing. Horseman Z Butcher and Trainer P Scaife advised they were disappointed with its run.

RACE 5 - WAIAU ESTATE MOBILE PACE
PERISIAN NIGHTLIFE (T Mitchell) over raced when in the lead and gave ground inside the last 300m finishing well back second last.
The authorization of the payment of first placed ROMAN CENTURION (J Abernethy) was withheld until such time that it was established that ROMAN CENTURION was in an incorrect gait for less than 150m, and therefore not in breach of the Horse Breaking Regulations.  ROMAN CENTURION broke, losing ground in a gallop for approximately 100m.  Trainer B Newbury was warned to improve the racing manners of ROMAN CENTURION.  Well after the winning post VIDA MAY (Z Butcher) shied at a pylon lying on the track ducking out and locking sulky wheels with ROMAN CENTURION.

RACE 6 - STAPLES RODWAY MOBILE PACE
The saddle cloth on CAPITAL GUEST (T Mitchell) came adrift in the run down the back straight. TOO THE TOP (J Abernethy) failed to get clear racing room until late in the run home finishing in an unlucky third placing.
The authorization of the placings were withheld until such time that it was confirmed by Horseman T Mitchell that LITTLE MISS PRISS's chances were not affected when he was checked with 75m to run, racing inside of WOT THE OWL (P Young). An Information was lodged alleging that horseman P Young drove WOT THE OWL carelessly causing interference to LITTLE MISS PRISS (T Mitchell) with 75m to run.  The JCA upheld the charge and imposed a fine of $300.

RACE 7 - ROSS GRAHAM MOTORS MOBILE PACE
ARMAFIREN (D Cunneen) which had put four lengths on the field from inside the 800m to the 500m, still in the lead when reaching the passing lane and then gave ground.

RACE 8 - WOODLANDS STUD MOBILE PACE
A false start was declared when DAVID FAGAN (P Butcher) galloped and veered out checking HAYLIN HURRICANE (T Mitchell) prior to the start.  DAVID FAGAN was sent to the outside of the second line for the restart.  WARP SPEED (J Dickie) paced roughly with 1800m to run when racing three deep on the running line.  The favourite CHARDANAE (T Macfarlane) was progressively shuffled back to four back one out to the rear of the field with 600m to run was improved three wide with cover, and four and five wide in the home straight ran on well for its second placing.
An Information was lodged alleging SL McCaffrey the driver of BY THE STARS used his whip outside the confines of the sulky over the concluding stages of the race.  The breach was admitted and the JCA imposed a fine of $200.
