An independent organisation, the Racing Integrity Unit (RIU) is charged with managing the integrity issues within the three New Zealand racing codes - Harness, Thoroughbred and Greyhound.

The New Zealand Racing Integrity Unit (RIU) commenced operations on 1 February 2011 bringing together the Stipendiary Steward and Racecourse Investigator functions for each NZ racing code and is responsible for investigating and prosecuting breaches of the Rules of Racing. RUNTHIEFRUN (K Hercock) - Underwent a veterinary examination in the days following this race including blood test which did not reveal any abnormality. Connections advised that they would be adding a tongue tie for its next start.

Race 1 HOBO’S 90 NOT OUT 1800M

ZENKURO (M McNab) – Trainer M Forbes advised Stewards, that on Tuesday 9 February, ZENKURO, underwent a veterinary examination which included blood tests, with the results showing no abnormalities. M Forbes further advised it is his intention to continue on with the gelding’s current preparation.

SHARE POWER (J Parkes) - Underwent an endoscopic examination on return to the stable which revealed no abnormality. Trainer M Breslin will apply a tongue tie at its next raceday start.

Race 2 CONCEPT SECURITY PREMIER (1200 Metres)

HOLD THE PRESS (D Johnson) – Co-trainer J Benner advised Stewards, on return to the stable, HOLD THE PRESS, underwent a veterinary examination which revealed no abnormality. J Benner further advised it is the stables intention to continue on with the filly’s current preparation.

Race 9 NZ CAMPUS OF INNOVATION & SPORT WELLINGTON CUP (Group 3) (3200 Metres)

SUPER HOOF (J Fawcett) – Trainer G Old advised Stewards, he was satisfied with the post-race condition of SUPER HOOF, however, may have not seen out the 3200m. SUPER HOOF, has now been sent for a brief spell and will return for Autumn racing.

Race 4 POVERTY BAY CUP 17 APRIL 1400 (1400 Metres)

PABLO ESK (M McNab) – Trainer M Warren advised Stewards, PABLO ESK, underwent a veterinary examination on Friday 29 January, which included blood tests, with the horse showing flu symptoms. PABLO ESK is now on antibiotics and has been sent for a spell.

ROMMEL (J Riddell) – Trainer J Bary reported the gelding has now been retired from his stable after sustaining a suspensory ligament injury to the left foreleg.

GRAND BOUQUET (S McKay) – Trainer L Brennan advised Stewards, GRAND BOUQUET pulled up lame in the off front leg. L Brennan further advised, GRAND BOUQUET, will spend the next seven to ten days swimming and will not participate in track work until the lameness subsides.
